Students’ training at NICMAR goes beyond the confines of classroom and curriculum. In order to uphold the total personal and academic development of the students, the institute promotes various events and club activities encompassing diverse areas, i.e. sports, cultural, literary, technical, design, theatre etc. A variety of events, fests and activities are organised throughout the year which ensure that the extra-curricular segment of NICMAR is always vibrant and creative. The Student activities provide a nice platform to the students to showcase their talents.
Student life at NICMAR is a mixed bag of serious learning and serious fun. With students from all over India and with diverse cultural backgrounds, it is truly a great place to learn team building in a practical way. The challenging array of Student Activities, which are truly Of, For and By the students, add colour and value to the life here.
NICMAR Pune launched its first student-initiated college centred publication in the form of a newsletter, titled 'Perception' in September 2017. The newsletter is an attempt to showcase the activities of the Institute to the world outside along with highlighting some of the core achievements of the student fraternity while also using this platform to inform the community at large on some of the updates of the CRIP sector.

From conceptualizing and designing the first edition, the Editorial team tried scaling things up with Edition 2, where the core concentration was to expand the focus areas thus creating a broad and diversified content base. With several interesting contributions and a larger content field, the aim was to indulge maximum reader concentration while making forth coming editions a mainstay in the life of not just NICMAR, but the entire CRIP sector at large. This edition was released on 18th March 2018, during the proceedings of the Annual Alumni Meet.
Taking a break from the mundane lifestyle, the edition 4 hopes to bring out an optimistic approach to everything around. With a more colorful and cheerful edition this time, the main idea was to put a thought into everyone's mind that is not only relevant but also thought provoking. This bi-annual publication covers all the recent updates associated with NICMAR Pune.

For bidding adieu to the batch of 2019-21, Farewell 2021 was organised on March 15, 2021 at the NICMAR auditorium and it was live-streamed on the CISCO WebEx platform. The event began with speeches by the Student Coordinator of Student Council 2019-20 and the member of Student Committee 2020-21, Mr. Varun Khemaria, followed by a member of the Placement Committee 2020-21, Mr. M J Amruth Gowda and finally, a representative from the CRs, Mr. Jaiyant Sharma.
After the speeches by student representatives, our honourable Director General, Dr. mangesh G. Korgaonker addressed the students and boosted their spirit by wishing them success in their future endeavours. After DG Sir’s speech, Dr. Vishwanath Lele, Dean of Placement and Industry Relations and Dr. Amit Hiray, Head of Student Activities 2019-20, were felicitated. It was followed by the felicitation of the two student bodies at NICMAR; the Student Council 2019-20 who in turn formed the Student Committee 2020-21 and the Placement Committee 2020-21. The Class Representatives and Co-Class Representatives were also felicitated.
Additionally, all the students who excelled beyond academics, the members from the various clubs such as Sports Club, Dance Club, Music Club, Fashion Club, M.A.D Club, R&D Club and Start-Up Club of the institute were also felicitated. The second Entrepreneurship Summit (E-Summit) 2021 was organized on the theme “Dialogues for a resilient enterprise and a purposeful innovation” on March 7, 2021at the NICMAR auditorium and it was live-streamed on the CISCO WebEx platform. The objective of the E-Summit was to provide insights into how businesses can be made resilient with the help of sustainable practices. The summit aimed at serving as a platform for the student fraternity to have a broader outlook towards entrepreneurship and its growing need today.

The day’s proceedings began with the inaugural address by the honourable Director General of NICMAR Dr. Mangesh G Korgaonker. Dr. Korgaonker set the tone for the summit by addressing the various challenges faced by today’s business sector. The dais was then handed over to the keynote speaker for E-Summit 2021, Mr. Swapnil Joshi - Founder and Principal Consultant at Intento Associates. This was followed by a question-answer session. The second speaker was by Mr. Sachin Mohite - CEO at SPACE for ECE; the talk was followed by a question-answer session as well.
The post-lunch session of the Summit commenced with an address by Ms Monika Jha - Founder of Cydee Technologies. This was followed by a question-answer session. The final deliberation was byMr. Vikrant Bujbalrao - Director of Yoursathi, and his talk was followed bya question-answer session.
After the perspicacious talks, a panel discussion was conducted which was moderated by Dr. Tapash Kumar Ganguli, Dean, Executive Education, NICMAR. Post the enriching panel discussion, the winners of Ideathon and the official members of the Technical Clubs for 2021 were declared. To formally conclude the E-Summit 2021, the vote of thanks on behalf of NICMAR, was proposed by Prof Srividhya Sridharan, Head of Alumni Activities at NICMAR Pune.
Ideathon was organized online on March 6, 2021 on the MS Teams platform. The event was conducted in collaboration with the Association of Global NICMARians (AGNI). The objective was to provide a hands-on learning experience to our students and budding entrepreneurs. It encouraged the creation of new business ventures, development of entrepreneurial skills, and calculated risk-taking among the students. Ideathon was a platform that allowed students to showcase their innovative business plans and unleash their hidden entrepreneurial potential. After multiple review sessions, the students interested in pursuing entrepreneurial prospects were presented with an opportunity to develop contacts with experts in the field and expand their network.
The event officially started on February 11, 2021, where all the teams presented their ideas to a jury. After a thorough deliberation, the jury declared the 14 teams that moved forward to the next part of the event. The second round was held on February 28, 2021 where the jury focused on the team’s USP, clarity of financial model with timeline, marketing plan and execution plan.

The winners were declared on March 7, 2021 after the E-Summit 2021. The overall winners were announced where team Bridge Connect was declared as the second runner-up. The first runner-up position with award money of six thousand rupees was bagged by team Marauders. Team C Trackers emerged as the winner of Ideathon 2021 and were awarded nine thousand rupees, to support their Start-up idea. The three winning teams i.e., C Trackers, Marauders and Bridge Connect were additionally given the opportunity to present their ideas on the forum of AGNI Business Connect (ABC) on March 20, 2021
Genesis – Cultural Night was organized on March 4, 2021 in the MBH Mess Hall. The night was organized to showcase the various extracurricular talents of our students. The event was filled with enthralling performances by the members of the Music, Dance and Fashion Clubs.
Additionally, the certificates and cash prizes for events were distributed to the respective students. The cash prize for the winners of E-Udhbhav 2020, the certificates for all the mentorsof E-Udhbhav 2020 and the cash prize for Chakravyuh 2020, were handed overto mark the closing of the event.
The annual intra-college sports event NICMAR Premier League (NPL) 2021, was conducted on February 25, 26 and 28, 2021. The aim of the event was to promote sports in NICMAR, where more than 150 students participated in different sports competitions like Cricket, Football, Basketball, Table Tennis, Volleyball and Badminton. The event was launched on February 22, 2021 with the customary auction at the MBH Mess Hall. All the registered owners were given an opportunity to select players for their team from the given list in true IPL fashion. The event was launched with greetings from the anchors and was followed by the auction.
NPL began in full swing on February 25, 2021, where the students could showcase their sporting abilities during the Football, Table Tennis and Volleyball matches. The day ended with Badminton and Basketball matches. The second day consisted of Football, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Badminton and Basketball matched as well. The final day began with Cricket, which is one of the most favourite sports among NICMAR students. After a set of preliminary matches between different teams, a thrilling showcaseof the final matches of Basketball, Badminton, Volleyball and Football were also played.
The three-day sporting event filled with fun, enthusiasm and team spirit came to an end on February 28, 2021, with the felicitation ceremony held at the NICMAR Basketball Court. The felicitation ceremony was started with an engaging and thought-provoking performance by the MAD club on the importance of sports in our day-to-day life. This was followed by the felicitation of the all-rounder player Mr. Devashish Singh Thakurand the winners of the different competitions. The overall winners were also announced where team Sons of Pitches were declared the first runner-up.Team Pantars emerged as the winners of NPL 2021
The 8th Annual Academic Conclave was organized on the theme, ‘Pivoting towards new horizons post-pandemic in the CRIP sector’ on January 30, 2021. The conclave was organised online on the Cisco-Webex platform. The panel of speakers comprised Mr. Vivek Jala - Associate Director - Deal Advisory, KPMG India, Mr. Ameya Gumaste - Country Manager at Turner & Townsend, India, Mr. Brij Nandan Yadava - Executive Director at DLF Limited, India and Dr. P.C Abraham, Head of Highways and Causeways, Kingdom of Bahrain.
The day’s proceedings began with the Inaugural speech and thematic introduction by Dr. Anil Agarwal, Dean of Post Graduate Programmes at NICMAR, Pune. Our first speaker Mr. Vivek Jala spoke about the general scenario of the Real Estate Sector. The title of his talk was COVID CAWACH. (C - Commercial Office will bounce back, A - Asset Light Way of Business, W - Warehousing - A ray of hope, A - Alternate business models, C - Capital - Has a new meaning, H - Housing - The Real Rockstar).
The second speaker Mr. Ameya Gumaste addressed the practices that have changed and have not changed in the course of this pandemic. He enlightened the participants about the future of the construction industry and the measures we must take to ensure a sustainable future. This was followed by a question-answer session and a panel discussion.
The post-lunch session of the conclave commenced with an addressal by Mr. Brij Nandan Yadava- the Executive Director at DLF Limited, India. Mr. Brij Nandan spoke about the end-to-end business management for the Infrastructure and Real Estate sectors.
The final talk was delivered by Dr. P.C Abraham- the Head of Highways and Causeways, Kingdom of Bahrain. Dr. Abraham explained thenew approaches being used to manage construction projects and addressed the paradigm shift in project goal realization.
The vote of thanks on behalf of NICMAR, Pune was proposed by Dr. Amit Hiray- Head of Student Activities. The 8th Annual Academic Conclave was an enriching experience in which various new advancements in the CRIP industry and the post-pandemic opportunities and challenges were deliberated upon by the speakers, students and faculty members.
The annual cultural intra-college event REVERBS 2.0, was hosted from 21st December to 23rd December 2020 on an online platform. The tagline for the event was ‘Virtual Escapades’ where many new events were introduced to make it a memorable and joyful event for the students. This year saw a participation of around 500 students in the cultural, photography and informal domains.
The felicitation ceremony was conducted on the Cisco WebEx platform on the evening of 24th December. All the winners for each event conducted in Reverbs 2.0 were announced. This was followed by the declaration of overall winners where the ACM Sections 3 and 4 were declared the second and first runners up respectively. The ACM Section 1 emerged as the winners of Reverbs 2.0.
The annual techno-managerial intra-college event Chakravyuh 2020, was hosted online from 25th November to 30th November 2020. The tagline for the event was ‘Unite. Battle. Conquer’, where more than 500 students participated in different domains like Technical, Business, Design, and Literary. A new domain IT and Digital Media was introduced which also received an overwhelming participation from students. There was a range of 21 events across the domains that included the mega multi-tier event called ‘The Ultimate Showdown’; which was the major highlight of the Chakraview 2020. On 30th November, the prize distribution took place on Cisco WebEx, where A-maze (REUIM & IFDM) were declared as the runners up, and ACM 2 emerged as the winners of Chakravyuh 2020
Udbhav is an annual ice-breaking event organized for the new students who enroll in NICMAR to pursue various programmes. The event was organized from 10th September 2020 to 16th September 2020. It provides them a platform to interact with seniors, socialize with fellow batchmates, and showcase their talents by participating in various activities. Due to the outbreak of pandemic this year, the event was hosted online for the first time and hence, was renamed E-Udbhav 2020. It was a week-long event with 20 events across 7 event genres namely Technical, Business, Cultural, Literary, Design, Informal, and Photography. The last day of the fest marked the closing of the vibrant event via an address from the Student Council with the announcement of winners for the individual events conducted during the week, and Group 12 was declared as the overall winners for E-Udbhav,2020
The 15th edition of the annual inter-college techno-cultural fest, TECHNIKALA 2020 was organized from 21st February to 23rd February 2020. The fest was a phenomenal success with three days of fun-filled events, activities, concerts and much more. Over 30 events in different genres such as cultural, sports, business, technical, informal, literary, design, photography and gaming were organized. Technikala 2020 saw an overwhelming participation of over 3000 students from various institutes from across the country. The theme of the fest was “A Portal into Paradise”. This theme was visible all around the campus through various exhibits and installations. The events were conducted along this theme.
As part of promoting Technikala 2020, a number of prelude events were organized such as cheering at the Pune Half marathon, Proshow artist reveal, tug of war, arm wrestling and lemon spoon race, the event ‘Singletine’, a flash mob and a musical performance at Westend Mall, Cyclothon, Bike Rally, and a one day sporting event called Technikala Premier League to promote the event. For the first time at NICMAR, Pune, a blood donation camp was organized as a prelude event to Technikala 2020. The blood donation camp received a good response as about 130 students donated blood for a cause.
Technikala 2020 concluded with a Pro-show by Mr. Akhil Sachdeva, a popular singer from the Indian film industry. Over 2000 students attended the pro-show. Thus, like every year, Technikala 2020 was a grand success.
The Start-Up Diaries, an intra-college competition hosted by the Start-Up clubwas conducted on April 27, 2021. The registration for the event closed on April 13, 2021, where a total of 13 teams registered to participate in the event. The teams were asked to make a poster and write a descriptive article on any existing start-up of their choice. The last date for submission was April 17, 2021. The entries were evaluated by three NICMAR Alumni namely, Mr. Sachin Amarnath, Mr. Arpan Bansal and Mr. Vishal Mehta. After a considerable deliberation, the start-ups known as Taral Tech and Infra. Market were declared as the second and first runners-up respectively. The start-up called Bounce won the competition. All the winners were awarded certificates.
The Info Knot, an intra-college competition hosted by Fulcro: The Research and Development Club was conducted between March 20 and 31, 2021. The competition aimed to let the students showcase their creative skills by creating posters on specified topics. A total of 15 teams participated in the event judged by Mr. Sai Kiran Valluri, Technical Coordinator of Student Council 2018-2019. At the end of the competition on April 10, 2021, all the participants were given participation certificates and the team PRR was declared as the second runner-up. The team Panchniti was declared as the first runner-up and the teamRockets was declared as the winners of the competition.

Republic Day was celebrated on 26th January 2020 at NICMAR, Pune which began with the flag hoisting and parade by the guards followed by DG sir’s speech. The cultural performances followed the flag hoisting where the dance club, music club and MAD club had their performances on the occasion.
The harvest festival to celebrate and lift up the spirit of farmers of the nation was celebrated on 25th January 2020. Students setup a model village with a theme to save water and named it “Anahitaranyam” which translates to Goddess of water with artworks. In the evening there was a cultural performance showcasing the dance and music of Andhra and Telangana followed by a DJ night and Lohri celebration at the football ground.
NICMAR proudly celebrated the birth of lord Krishna on the campus by conducting the popular ritual of Dahi Handi. All senior and junior students participated with great zeal in the celebration.
Independence Day was celebrated on 15th August 2019 at NICMAR, Pune. The celebration comprised flag hoisting, parade by the guards and DG sir’s speech. Various cultural performances were given by the dance club, music club and MAD club on the occasion.
Onam, the festival of the land of the gods, Kerala, was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 16th September 2019. The academic lobby was decorated with paintings depicting the culture of Kerala. The cultural events included Thiruvathira and Malayalam songs in the morning at the academic lobby followed by a cultural performance in the evening at the Silver Jubliee hostel wherein students participated by dressing in the traditional Kerala attire.
Navratri was celebrated on 22th October 2019. Students decorated the SJB badminton court with Gujrati slogans, and lights. Prayers were offered to Goddess Durga and students performed Garba, the traditional dance form.
TheGanesh Utsav was a weeklong celebration from 1st September to 7th September 2019 which began with a flash mob to mark the beginning of the event on the 1st September 2019 in front of the Millennium boys’ hostel followed by the Ganesh Sthapana on the next day and the Ganesh Visarjan on 7th September 2019.
Christmas in NICMAR is a lively affair with the students coming together to enjoy a season of merriment and joy. Sparkled with the exchange of gifts, soulful and jubilant Christmas carols and few sweet treats, Christmas brings alive the campus with a wonderful cheer that sets the tone for the coming of the New Year.
Teacher’s day was celebrated in NICMAR along with the oath taking ceremony for the Student Council 2019-20 on 5th September 2019. The event began with DG sir’s speech where he shared his thoughts on the responsibilities of teachers, and appreciated the efforts of all faculty and staff members for their contribution towards the teaching and learning activities of the institute. Dr. Amit Hiray, Head, Student Activities welcomed the new Student Council in his speech. After the speeches, the commencement of the Student Council 2019-20 oath taking ceremony began wherein the new council was presented with sashes followed by their oath taking.
The Students’ body of NICMAR has formed various clubs to encourage and initiate various activities throughout the year. Apart from providing an avenue for students to showcase their immense talents, these clubs also encourage students to take the initiative in organizing events and set new standards of excellence. The students pursue a different array of activities in spite of their hectic academic schedule.
Quench is not just limited to being a conventional literary club. It is a platform put together by the students of NICMAR, Pune to quench your creative thirst. It is a collaboration of enthusiasts of not just literature but cinema and culture and has members who love to come together to discuss any and everything that goes on in the world. Quench is a medium to explore your existence in the world that surrounds you through various events and methods.
The club conducted bi-weekly meets this year wherein the mentors helped the students understand the purpose and process of carrying out research and publishing papers. The mentors conducted six meets for discussing the students’ research findings and making suggestions for further study. As an output, two teams have presented and published research papers. The mentors are keen on producing more output through the club by actively involving students in research.
A club for all the photography enthusiasts who believe that all the feelings can be captured by the lens. This club is formed by individuals who capture the smallest of the small things and the biggest of the big, who have an eye to capture the minutest and the most abstract details. This is a club for all the enthusiastic shutterbugs who believe that life is a story that can be told through photographs.
The club has been actively holding weekly meets to engage students in discussions related to different aspects of business and the start-up world. A total of 12 sessions were conducted this year. Each session had one aspect/operation of running a business be it marketing, financing, product development etc. Upon thorough discussions on these aspects, start-up of the day and start-up news of the week, were presented by the club mentors. This year, the club has hosted talks by Mr. Siddharth Nahta, Mr. Arpan Bansal, Mr. Sachin Amarnath, Mr. Rohan Carvalho, Mr. Aditya Oza and Mr. Kunal Gupta. All of the speakers were NICMAR Alumni who have been successfully running start-ups in different sectors.
The club meets are conducted once a week for competitions and in-house performances. The current clubs consist of the junior batch students who receive constant support and guidance from the senior club members. All clubs have won various prizes at intercollegiate level, and they have also performed for ILCC 2019 and ICCRIP 2019 organized by NICMAR, Pune.
