Student Activities

NICMAR GOA community is a mix of students from all cultures and work backgrounds. This fusion makes the whole experience enriching and enthralling. The rich diversity students closely working in groups help them in their intellectual growth and greater entrepreneurial skills.?

Our students, each in their own ability and competency, have a potential to become able coordinators and managers. Students at NICMAR GOA are empowered to demeanor various activities on their own. As a result various committees and clubs have been formed by the students which help in the overall development of a NICMARIAN at Goa campus. Students at NICMAR GOA are given the authority and independence to prove their best.

 

The gamut of events is what keeps the freshness of NICMAR GOA alive. Active minds and hearts are what this institute treasures and endeavors for. In other words there events redefine the very essence of post graduate studies. Moreover these events tend to dig, even the ‘slightest of talent possible’ out of an individual and make him/her feel enthralled and on top of the world.
 

The PGP-Advanced Construction Management Program is designed to meet the challenges of rapid changes in our society. Students are continually exposed to scenarios that demand structuring of unstructured problems and proposing solutions to complex situations.

Student Coordinators of NICMAR who are primarily responsible for the coordination between all students and the college. They would be the link between all committees and the NICMAR Management.

1. Janmashtami

This year Janmashtami was celebrated for two days on 11th & 14th August 2017. Students of 10th and 11th batch of NICMAR Goa Campus were divided into different group for various competition held on 11th August 2017 which includes-

1. Face painting

2. Flute Design

Dahi handi festival was held on 14th August 2017. It involves all students of the institute by hanging an earthen pot filled with dahi or other milk-based delicacy, at a convenient or difficult to reach height. Boys formed teams in making a human pyramid and attempted to reach and break the pot and for girls balloons blasting competition was held simultaneously. The DJ was also organized throughout the event.

 

 

2. Independence Day & Republic Day

NICMAR Goa celebrated these two days with great zeal and enthusiasm.

Tri-color flag was hoisted by Dr. Indrasen Singh, Dean Goa campus; followed by National Anthem, and cultural events to pay tribute to our freedom fighters and legends who valiantly fought for the country.

 

 

3. Ganeshotsav

In NICMAR Goa, Ganeshotsav was celebrated for 7 days from 25/08/2017 to 31/08/2017. Here, the students brought and worshipped the Lord Ganesha idol. Daily fun events were organized. On the last day of the festival the idols was taken out in a colourful and musical procession and immersed traditionally in water.

 

 

4. Onam

Onam was celebrated in NICMAR Goa on 25/08/2017 wherein students perform rituals, acts and make beautiful, colourful and creative rangolis out of flowers and enjoy the festival with great joy and happiness.

 

 

5. Teachers Day

This year in NICMAR Goa, to create an awareness about the significance of the teachers and the fact that they are an effective tool of social transformation, the students presented their views, acts and dedicated poems for precious faculties followed by cake cutting ceremony and gifted them with saplings with a social message of Go Green.

 

NICMAR Goa is a place where professionals are in making. Building better career and achieving goals of students only reaches by a good health. The students have proved themselves to be the best at both academic and extra-curricular activities time and again. The professionalism and competitive spirit that characterizes a successful manager has been exuded by the NICMAR students in the recent competitions and events conducted by student council of NICMAR Goa Campus.

Following sports events were conducted during academic year of 2017-18:

1.    BADMINTON:

Badminton league was held on the month of December 2017 with participation of nearly 50 players (both singles and doubles). Where all matches held at PONDA SPORTS COMPLEX.

2.    CRICKET:

“NICMAR Premiuer League” is the cricket tournament held at ‘Goa Dairy Grounds’ in the month of November to December of 2017 with participation of 60 players formed to 4 teams naming Magnitude 11, Royal Rebels, Legends 11, and Agile 11. Both Magnitude 11 and Royal Rebels had a nail biting fight at finals held on December 16th 2017 where Royal Rebels stands as runner up and Magnitude 11 lifted the cup.

  3.    FOOTBALL:

Football match was held at GEC grounds located at Farmagudi, Ponda on February 13th 2018 with participation of two teams one from seniors and one from junior’s batches of ACM Goa. Seniors team won the title.

AWARD CEREMONY:

Winners were awarded & appreciated by dean of NICMAR, Goa Campus.

 

Events held at NICMAR GOA are a true testimony to its student-driven character. Students are rigorously involved in planning, organizing and executing of events. This goes a long way in showing the level of commitment of NICMAR GOA students. Events organized round the year are multitude in nature varying from management contests to cultural activities.
 


INKARNO-2K18

National Institute of Construction Management and Research (NICMAR) Goa Campus celebrated the INKARNO - two days Techno-Management Event 2018 on 10th and 11th February 2018.

The theme of INKARNO 2K18 was “INSIGHT INDIA” to portray different cultural backgrounds of student studying in NICMAR Goa campus. As we have students from different states speaking different languages, following different religion and having different culture still maintaining harmony among each other and moving together towards achieving a common goal of progress.

The ceremony was started with a Saraswati Vandana and lighting the lamp by Mr. Miguel Fernandes (Chief Guest), Mr.Umesh Tendulkar (Guest of Honour), Dr. Indrasen Singh (Dean NICMAR Goa), Faculty and Placement Officer followed by dance performance.

Mr. Miguel in his speech emphasized on the need for students to be imaginative & creative. He also mentioned the role of discipline, focus and conquering ones fear as the ingredients to success.

Dr. Indrasen Singh in his speech shared the importance of efficient management of resources in today’s world and emphasized on development of transport Infrastructure. He also mentioned that proper coordination and communication are the essential components of management for timely completion of project.

37 events including technical event, cultural event, B-school events and informal events were hosted. The students from various part of the globe participated in the events. The response from the participants was overwhelming. The event was a grand success which accomplished its motto.

Setu-Nirman-2K18

Setu-Nirman 2K18: “National Symposium on Challenges in Project Engineering and Management of Infrastructure Projects in India” organized by NICMAR Goa at Hotel Fidalgo, Panaji – Goa on 17th February 2018.

Setu-Nirman word is derived from Sanskrit script, it means development of bridge. The objective of the symposium is the development of bridge between project management experts and infrastructure professionals, students, academician, research scholar.

The Symposium aims at bringing the entire infrastructure ecosystem together with the most senior figures in the construction industry to exchange ideas and share experiences on some key issues and challenges for the Indian construction industry. The Symposium drew excellent response and a full house of delegates. Several eminent experts addressed the Symposium. Participants comprises of Infrastructure Professionals from L&T, CPWD, PWD Goa, Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC), JMC Projects, MVR Infra Projects, Economic Development Corporation of Goa (EDC), Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), Town and Country Planning – Goa, Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) and many construction companies. Students, Research Scholars and Academicians from NIT Goa, IIT Goa, Goa Engineering College, Don Bosco College of Engineering, Goa Institute of Management, Department of Management Studies – Goa University and various engineering colleges from across India also participated.

Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Shri. Manohar Parrikar was to grace this symposium as the Chief Guest. However, due to his health related emergency he was unable to attend the same. Mr. Anil Counto, Chairman and CEO, ALCON Enterprises and Mr. Manguesh Prabhugaonkar, Chairman, Indian Institute of Architects participated in the symposium as the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively.

The Director General, NICMAR and Chief Patron of the symposium Dr. Mangesh G Korgaonker delivered a valuable key note address on “Construction Sector Study”.

Sandhishya -2K18

Sandhishya 2k18 was a farewell party organized for 10th Batch (PGP ACM 2016-2018) by the 11th Batch. The function was graced by the Dean and faculty members of NICMAR Goa.

Honorable guests shared their moments and experiences with 10th Batch of last 2 years and appreciated their performance in placements as well as exams.

‘Fish Pond’ event was organized in which the students were asked to drop in fun tasks and wishes anonymously in a box later to which the students were asked to perform the respective tasks. Specially made mementos were awarded to the Xth Batch students. Later a video compilation was also dedicated to the senior batch by the junior batch which took them down the memory lanes. The dinner was served simultaneously and the party wrapped up with a memorable DJ night.

 

The Mess, is the best one could ask for staying out of Home. The menu consists of a variety of different dishes and it sure is a treat to have a mess like that. The Kitchen is highly hygienic and the cooks are professionals. The caterers are hired after a through selection process, which would definitely consist of tenders and contracts being involved and of course quality.

The hostels at NICMAR house an eclectic mix of students who come from various backgrounds and all are special in their own way. We boarders enjoy a healthy relationship and feel at home. The security arrangements provided guarantees a safe and secure stay at NICMAR.
 

This campus hostel has capacity for 180 students on sharing basis.

 

The workshops provide a platform to gain practical knowledge which would be relevant and would enable the students to be a perfect Manager. The workshops are designed to enhance skills related to the construction practices, computer and managerial skills required to serve the designation. 

Computer Workshop:

The computer Workshop is basically designed and added to the management course curriculum so as to make future managers proficient in software packages in the reas of Project Management (Primavera, Ms Project) Statistical Analysis (SPSS), Linear/Non-linear Programming (Lindo/Lingo), and Simulation, keeping in mind the industry requirements.   

Managerial Skill Workshop:

Construction may be our core expertise area but that does not mean we compromise on management aspect in any way. The management workshop is organized so as the students attain the management skills required by the NICMARIAN.
