About National Institute of Construction Management and Research Trust
Under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950, National Institute of Construction Management and Research was registered as a Public Trust in September-1983. The National Institute of Construction Management and Research Society was constituted in 1984 and registered under the Societies’ Registration Act, 1860. The registered office is at Walchand Centre, Tardeo, Mumbai 400 034, Maharashtra, India.
The National Institute of Construction Management and Research trust, has two Universities that are engaged in the providing higher education, research, professionalism and skill formation at all levels of the construction, project management, real estate and infrastructure, business management, energy and environment and other allied industries. Besides that, Trust’s objectives include undertaking special projects, collaboration with other organizations, dissemination of knowledge through seminars / conferences, etc; publishing literature, undertaking consultancy and taking necessary actions conducive to fulfilment of the objectives of the Society.
The Board of Trustees, the Board of Governors and the Director General, referred in the Memorandum of Association as the ‘Chief Executive’ of the Society, are responsible for all the decisions and actions related to the trust. At the University level, there is an Academic Council chaired by Director General which is responsible for all academic decisions. There is also Research Advisory Board and an Academic Advisory Council to provide advisory support in areas referred to these bodies.
Recognition as SIRO:
National Institute of Construction Management and Research is very active in research and industrial problem solving in these areas. National Institute of Construction Management and Research is recognized as “Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO)” by Dept. of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. National Institute of Construction Management and Research is regularly assessed for income tax and enjoys benefits under section 11 and 80G of Income Tax Act 1961. National Institute of Construction Management and Research also enjoys exemption from customs duty and central excise, by virtue of it being SIRO.
UNDP Assistance:
National Institute of Construction Management and Research received UNDP grant which enabled the Institute to involve eminent academics from MIT, USA; University of Michigan, USA; University of Loughborough, ILO, IIMA, other institutes in India and eminent practitioners from India in development of the first full fledged curriculum for a full time residential post graduate Programme in Advanced Construction Management in late eighties.
Universities:
National Institute of Construction Management and Research has two Universities under its umbrella. NICMAR University, Pune Act. (L. C. BILL No. OF 2022) was passed by Maharashtra State Government, on 16th March, 2022, for the development and advancement of higher education in the State of Maharashtra.
